Election 2016 Update: The latest statewide election results

8:50 update

Here’s an update on the U.S. House Second District race in Kansas, which represents Lawrence. U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins, the Republican holds a 50 percent to 43 percent lead over Democrat Britani Potter. There is about a 4,000 vote difference. About 8 percent of precincts are reporting.

8:30 update

Let’s reset on state election results. Returns are still in the early stages. On the presidential and U.S. Senate races about 3.5 percent of the precincts in the state are reporting. As you likely have already heard, the AP has called Kansas for Trump, which was widely expected.

On the Senate seat, incumbent Jerry Moran, the Republican, in the race now has a 57 to 38 percent lead over Democrat Patrick Wiesner, 57 percent to 38 percent. And just now the AP has called the race for Moran. That also was expected.

Right now, all Kansas Supreme Court justices are winning their campaigns to be retained with 59 to 60 percent of the votes coming in for retention. Stegall, the one justice not targeted for ouster, is at 73 percent.

The Kansas Constitutional amendment providing additional protections for hunting and fishing appears headed to an easy victory, with a 77 percent yes vote at the moment.
