Lawrence Police to conduct DUI Saturation Patrol Friday night

Lawrence Police officers will be out in greater-than-normal numbers looking for impaired drivers Friday night and into Saturday morning.

Between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday the department will conduct a DUI saturation patrol, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Amy Rhoads.

The extra officers will be patrolling throughout Lawrence “specifically looking for motorists who exhibit signs of impaired driving and other traffic violations,” Rhoads said.

The extra police presence is funded through the Kansas Department of Transportation, Rhoads said.
