A sewer line break at Irving Hill Road and the upper parking lot west of Jayhawker Towers has prompted Kansas University to issue a stream and health advisory for Naismith Creek.

“Elevated bacteria levels and contaminant may be present” in Naismith Creek in the area surrounding 20th Street and Naismith Drive, the release said.

KU and the city’s utilities department are repairing the line break and conducting sampling, according to the release.

People and pets should steer clear of the stream. KU will rescind the advisory once samples show no health risk.
