Bottom line: The Lawrence City Commission will spend most of their Tuesday meeting in a budget work session.

Background: Commissioners will get an overview on Lawrence’s financial picture and major cost-drivers. The Lawrence Public Library will then present its 2017 budget request, which is for $300,000 more than it was allotted in 2016. After that, heads of city departments will tell commissioners of their 2017 budget requests. Commissioners will discuss the requests following all of the presentations.

The work session starts at 3 p.m. and runs to 5:35 p.m., followed by a regular meeting at 5:45 p.m. that consists only of a consent agenda. The commission will resume with its budget work session immediately after the regular meeting.

• Approve a Site Plan, SP-16-00155, for 24th Place Addition (24th & Inverness), a phased, commercial development with multiple buildings for a mix of retail and quality restaurant and/or fast order food but excluding fast order food-drive-in uses, located at 4300 W. 24th Place. • Approve the recommendation from the Airport Board to select Airport Development Group as the Lawrence Municipal Airport Engineer of Record with the Federal Aviation Administration for a five (5) year period.
