Baker University’s athletic department finished 26th nationally and first in the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup NAIA final standings, which were announced this week.

Baker also was the state’s top-ranked university in the annual Cups, which rates schools according to their all-sports success.

The Wildcats captured four Heart of America Athletic Conference championships in 2015-16.

The women’s basketball team made a historic run through the NAIA Div. I Women’s Basketball National Championship, finishing as the national runner-up, and the wrestling program captured Baker’s second and third all-time national champions in the sport: Victor Hughes (149 pounds) and Colby Crank (157 pounds).
