KU Crime Blotter: Week of Jan. 18 through Jan. 24

The following incidents were reported to the Kansas University Office of Public Safety between Monday, Jan. 18, and Sunday, Jan. 24. Incidents are listed by the dates they were reported.

Jan. 24

• Someone who is banned from campus was found trespassing in Ellsworth Hall about 3 a.m. Jan. 24. The person was arrested.

Jan. 23

• Police arrested a driver who crossed the center lane and was found to be intoxicated and driving without insurance about 2:45 a.m. Jan. 23 in the 1800 block of Iowa Street.

• Police found and arrested someone in possession of marijuana about 9:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Ellsworth Hall.

Jan. 22

• Someone found a small amount of marijuana about 3 p.m. Jan. 22 at Corbin Hall and turned it over to KU police. The person who found the drugs did not know whom they belonged to.

• Someone stole a bike from the rack at Jayhawker Towers, sometime Jan. 21 or Jan. 22. Loss was estimated at $400.

Jan. 21

• Six aggravated burglaries occurred sometime in the early-morning hours of Jan. 21 at Lewis Hall. In each case, someone entered rooms where occupants were sleeping and stole cash, prescription drugs and other items.

Items reported stolen in the six cases were $60 in cash from a victim’s wallet; sunglasses and headphones valued at $500; $500 cash and prescription medication valued at $300; a $5 bill; prescription medication valued at $40; and a $100 bill.

KU police reminded dorm residents to keep their room doors locked and urged anyone with information about the burglar to call Crime Stoppers at 864-8888 or the KU Office of Public Safety at 864-5900, according to a KU Crime Alert. (See related story here.)

• Police executing a search warrant found someone in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia about 10:45 p.m. Jan. 21 at Jayhawker Towers, building C. The person was arrested.

• Someone stole $30 dollars from another person’s wallet on Jan. 19 at Anderson Strength Center.

Jan. 20

• Someone stole a backpack from a women’s restroom in the Kansas Union shortly after 11 a.m. Jan. 20. Loss was estimated at $1,315.

• Someone stole a backpack from a women’s restroom in Watson Library about 10:45 a.m. Jan. 20. Loss was estimated at $88.

Jan. 19

• While conducting a search warrant, police found an individual in possession of marijuana, paraphernalia and a fake ID about 9:15 p.m. Jan. 19 in Ellsworth Hall. The person was arrested.

• Someone took a bicycle and lock from the bike rack at Ellsworth Hall, sometime between Dec. 18 and Jan. 18. Loss was estimated at $335.

Jan. 18

• Someone entered a room at Ellsworth Hall and stole an Xbox One console and accessories, sometime between Dec. 18 and Jan. 18. Loss was estimated at $695.

Jan. 17

• Someone was found in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia about 10:45 p.m. Jan. 17 at GSP Hall. The suspect was arrested.
