After spending six months consulting with nonprofit and service organizations around the state, University of Kansas MBA students will present their management solutions as part of the Kansas Impact Project on Thursday, March 3.

The program, known as KIP, pairs teams of first-year MBA students with agencies in need of business and management consulting. It integrates classroom learning with application of management principles, providing service-learning opportunities for students and aid to organizations with limited resources.

This year’s clients include:

Kansas Audio Reader, Lawrence

Kansas Audio Reader asked its KIP team to assess the market opportunity and business model design for audio description services, particularly for live performances.

Greeley County Health Services, Sharon Springs and Tribune

Greeley County Health Services tasked its KIP team with investigating and addressing the lack of child care alternatives for its employees and community residents.

Kearny County Hospital, Lakin

Kearny County Hospital sought KIP’s assistance in improving its current patient-flow process.

Pioneer Bluffs, Matfield Green

Pioneer Bluffs tasked its KIP team with developing a marketing plan to bolster its mission of celebrating prairie heritage and continuing to sustain itself.

Community Housing of Wyandotte County, Kansas City

Community Housing of Wyandotte County asked its KIP team, which includes School of Architecture of Architecture, Design & Planning students, to create a business plan for a three-story commercial development project and to design a layout for a floor that will help incubate local businesses.

Lawrence Humane Society, Lawrence

The Lawrence Humane Society sought KIP’s assistance in analyzing its organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, specifically examining accountability, effectiveness, alignment and job satisfaction.

Students will present their solutions for clients, peers, faculty, university administrators, elected officials and the general public at 4 p.m. at The Oread Hotel.
