Lawrence Transit System increases frequency of service from downtown to south Iowa Street

Because of increased ridership, the Lawrence Transit System is doubling how often it runs along route 7, which goes between downtown and south Iowa Street.

Buses will now make that route every 30 minutes, instead of every hour.

Robert Nugent, administrator of the transit system, said in a news release that ridership on that route has been steadily increasing.

The frequency may be increased soon for two other routes experiencing higher-than-normal ridership: route 5, from 31st and Iowa streets to East Hills Business Park, and route 10, from downtown Lawrence to Sixth and Wakarusa streets.
