Jayhawk softball goes 1-1 in Fresno

? Kansas University’s softball team split a pair of games Saturday, defeating Sacramento State, 9-0, before falling to Fresno State, 3-2.

Fresno State rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat KU.

“What a great game,” KU coach Megan Smith said. “We are certainly disappointed because we had many chances to win that game, but this is why you play. It was a fun game.”

In KU’s victory over Sacramento State, freshman pitcher Ania Williams tossed a complete-game shutout in her first start, allowing just one hit. Williams retired 10 batters in a row during one stretch.
