Person injured after ‘accidental’ discharge of gun
A person was injured in an accidental, self-inflicted shooting Saturday, police said.
At 5:53 p.m. six officers responded to the 2100 block of East 25th Place for a reported shooting, according to Lawrence Police Department activity logs.
Lawrence Police Sgt. Amy Rhoads said in a written statement Monday that one person was injured after an “accidental self-inflicted discharge of a firearm.”
The person suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and was treated and released from an area hospital, Rhoads said.
Additional details were not available because police reports regarding the incident were not yet completed, Rhoads said.
