Omaha man accused of attempted murder and kidnapping is transferred to Douglas County to face trial

A Nebraska man accused of attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery has been transferred from a Missouri jail to Douglas County to face trial.

Trea Alexander Ouellette, 24, of Omaha, is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in Missouri for second-degree robbery, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections online offender database.

However, because Ouellette is wanted in Douglas County on suspicion of a number of other charges, he was transferred back to Kansas to face trial, said Missouri DOC spokesman David Owen.

One felony count of attempted second-degree murder, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated robbery were filed against Ouellette in Douglas County District Court.

Alongside Lavern Reffitt, of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ouellette is accused of kidnapping another man on Jan. 25, 2015, stabbing him in the chest and robbing him of drugs and other personal possessions while in Lawrence.

Reffitt, 23, who is currently also in custody at the Douglas County Jail, is also on loan from the Missouri DOC. He is currently serving an eight-year prison sentence for second-degree robbery.

Reffitt pleaded no contest to attempted second-degree murder and aggravated robbery, and he is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 26 at 3 p.m.

Once Ouellette’s court proceedings are finished in Douglas County, he will be transferred back to Missouri to serve the remainder of his sentence, Owen said.

If Ouellette is found guilty of the three felonies, he could face more than 95 years in prison.
