Health Care Access receives national recognition

Lawrence’s Health Care Access recently received the highest-level recognition for its Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance, the clinic announced earlier this week.

In 2013, Health Care Access was the first clinic or practice in Douglas County to receive PCMH recognition, according to a Health Care Access news release. The clinic went from a level two in 2013 to a level three, the highest achievable level, with its recent NCQA recognition. The renewal is good for three additional years.

The patient-centered medical home model of care emphasizes high-quality coordinated care with a team-based approach that enhances patient access and shared informed decision-making using evidence-based guidelines.

NCQA is a nonprofit organization that works to improve health care quality through measurement, transparency and accountability. Its PCMH recognition is the most widely adopted model for “transforming primary care practices into medical homes,” according to Health Care Access.

Established in 1988, Health Care Access is a nonprofit, community-based organization serving low-income patients in Douglas County.
