Olathe ? Emily Byers drove in two runs with a pair of doubles, and Free State High defeated Blue Valley North, 5-4, on Saturday in the Sunflower League Softball Festival.

The Firebirds settled for a split of their two games when they fell to St. Thomas Aquinas, 13-0.

Byers, Hailey Jump, Madison Norris and Mayah Daniels each had two hits for the Firebirds in their victory over BV North.

FSHS went 1-3 in the tournament.

“I would have loved to have gotten a split overall in the tournament,” FSHS coach Lee Ice said.

The Firebirds (6-7) will host Olathe South on Tuesday.
