On Friday, participants and attendees of the Kansas Relays are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to the ticket entrance at Rock Chalk Park, an effort to help Just Food.

Those who bring nonperishable food items Friday will be given a buy-one-get-one-free sandwich coupon from Subway, the primary sponsor of the Relays, according to a press release from Subway.

“We’re very thankful to be working with Subway to fill our pantry with nonperishable food items that will assist those in need in Douglas County,” Just Food executive director Elizabeth Keever said in the release. “The donations from the Kansas Relays food drive will benefit those in need in the surrounding areas.”

The annual Relays start Wednesday and run through Saturday. For a full schedule of events see kuathletics.com, with news coverage at kusports.com.
