KU business dean is candidate for provost, will address campus Monday

The first of three provost candidates scheduled to give a public presentation at the Kansas University campus this month is KU’s School of Business dean, Neeli Bendapudi, KU announced Friday.

Bendapudi will give a public presentation from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday in the Bruckmiller Room of Adams Alumni Center. A reception will follow from 5 to 6 p.m. in the McGee Room of the alumni center.

Bendapudi has served as dean and H.D. Price Professor of Business at KU since 2011. Previously she was professor of marketing at Ohio State University.

KU’s provost and executive vice chancellor is second in command for KU’s Lawrence campus but does not oversee KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

The next provost and executive vice chancellor will replace Jeff Vitter, who left KU in December to become chancellor of the University of Mississippi. KU’s interim provost since Jan. 1 has been Sara Rosen, senior vice provost for academic affairs.

Two more provost candidates, who KU said will be publicly named in the days before their visits, are scheduled to meet the KU community this month.

The second candidate’s public presentation is set for 4 to 5 p.m. April 21 in Alderson Auditorium at the Kansas Union.

The third candidate will present from 4 to 5 p.m. April 25 in the Summerfield Room of the alumni center.

Candidates’ presentations will be streamed online, accessible to those with a KU online ID. KU will post updates regarding the search online at provostsearch.ku.edu.
