Baldwin City man arrested after short police pursuit early Tuesday morning

A Baldwin City man is being held in the Douglas County jail in connection with a short police pursuit early Tuesday, according to a booking report.

Alex Stefan Hall, 23, was arrested just before 1 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, attempting to flee or elude police, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, transporting open liquor, refusing an alcohol test and lacking proof of insurance, according to the report.

Sgt. Hayden Fowler of the Lawrence Police Department said an officer attempted to stop a car on a routine traffic stop when a short, low-speed pursuit ensued.

The driver of the white four-door sedan stopped in the middle of Seventh Street just east of Indiana Street and fled on foot, Fowler said. He was apprehended about a block away.

Fowler said alcohol was a factor in the incident. No one was injured, and officers left the scene shortly after 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Hall was being held on a $2,350 bond Tuesday morning, according to the booking report.
