Police release name of suspect wanted in Thursday’s manhunt
Police have released the name of the man who ran from officers during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon and is still on the loose.
Darin Robert Curtiss, 29, is currently wanted by the Kansas Department of Corrections on suspicion of a parole violation, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Troy Squire. He ran from police officers near the U.S. Highway 40 and I-70 turnpike interchange around 3:30 p.m.
As officers searched for Curtiss Thursday afternoon, Police Sgt. Trent McKinley said he was not considered a danger to the public.
Because there was no imminent threat and the search was taking up a large amount of police resources, many of the responding units were called back to their regular duties around 5 p.m.
Anyone with information on Curtiss’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the Lawrence Police Department’s non-emergency number at (785) 832-7509 or CrimeStoppers at (785) 843-8477.
I'm in N. Lawrence at the moment for a search or manhunt of sorts that's underway. Police cars all over. Stay tuned. pic.twitter.com/6oU26bnH5U
