MedExpress clinic opening with free flu shots through September

MedExpress will have the grand opening of its first neighborhood medical center in Kansas this week at the corner of Sixth Street and Kasold Drive.

MedExpress, at 3420 W. Sixth St., in Lawrence, will have an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday with a ribbon cutting and tours of the clinic. The public is invited to visit and talk with the MedExpress medical staff. The clinic opens to patients at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

In preparation for flu season, MedExpress will offer free flu shots to patients ages 4 and up through Sept. 30.

The new center will provide walk-in health care for illness and injury, as well as employer health services and basic wellness care.

In addition to colds, flu, sprains and strains, MedExpress also has more advanced services on-site such as X-rays, IVs, labs, minor surgery, stitches and treatment for broken bones.

Local employers and businesses can send employees and prospective employees to the center to receive workers’ compensation treatment, injury care, pre-employment screenings, drug and alcohol testing and other services. Basic wellness and prevention care such as sports, camp and general physicals, immunizations and tobacco cessation counseling is also available.

MedExpress is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day with no appointment necessary. The Lawrence center offers a full medical team including physicians, nurses and radiologic technologists.

MedExpress helps patients and employers coordinate follow-up care with primary care physicians, specialists and area hospitals when necessary.
