Lee’s Summit, Mo. ? Free State High’s volleyball team won three of its six matches Saturday in the Mo-Kan Tournament at Lee’s Summit West.

The Firebirds defeated Farmington, 26-24, 25-20; KC Schlagle, 25-3, 25-3; and Kearney, 25-22, 25-9, and lost to Bishop Miege, 25-15, 19-25, 25-20; St. Thomas Aquinas, 25-17, 25-13; and Blue Valley, 26-24, 19-25, 25-21.

Free State junior Naomi Hickman led with a team-high 26 kills and nine blocks. Allie Knapp added 23 kills, Emma Barberena had 22 kills, Natalie Clarke had seven blocks, and Lauren Johnson recorded a team-best 32 digs.

The Firebirds will face Lawrence High and Olathe Northwest in a triangular at 5 p.m. Tuesday at FSHS.
