FSHS boys, girls finish second at regional

? Free State High’s boys and girls cross country teams finished second at their Class 6A regional on Saturday at Milford State Park, both qualifying for the state meet next week.

Senior Ethan Donley placed second in the boys’ 5K race and broke a school record, finishing in 15:49.00. Donley edged Kain Anderson’s record time of 15:50.2, set in 2011.

Free State junior Emily Venters won her third regional title, winning the girls’ race in 18:27.30.

Manhattan won both team titles.

The Firebirds will compete at the state meet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Rim Rock Farm.
