Roeland Park ? Free State High’s volleyball team lost in straight sets Wednesday in a dual at Bishop Miege, 25-22, 25-12, 25-19.

Facing the top-ranked team in Class 4A-I, Naomi Hickman led the Firebirds with seven kills while Payton Gannaway, Rachel Hickman, Emma Barberena and Larissa Gaumer all had four kills each. Allie Knapp added three kills.

Defensively, Erin Friedrichsen and Gaumer both had a team-high eight digs, while Jenalee Dickson added six digs and a team-best 13 assists.

The Firebirds (17-13) will play in the Emporia Invitational at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
