After a lesson, participants could make a move for either white or black in a community chess game in the library atrium. The activity allowed anyone to participate in the ongoing game, known as Make the Next Move.

“It’s a great opportunity for community interaction,” said Amanda McConnell, public service manager at the library.

The community chess game could be played throughout the day, and about a dozen people participated, McConnell said. All the library’s activities and events are listed on its online calendar.
