Wayne Selden Jr. shares Big 12 Player of Week honors

Wayne Selden Jr., co-MVP of the Maui Invitational, earned another co-honor Monday, with the announcement of the Big 12 Player of the Week.

Selden, who averaged 19.3 points for Kansas University in Hawaii, as Bill Self’s Jayhawks won the three-day tournament in paradise, shares this week’s Big 12 honor with Iowa State point guard Monté Morris.

A junior from Roxbury, Massachusetts, Selden shot 66.7 percent from the floor and a blistering 70.6 percent from three-point range at the Maui Invitational, while grabbing 4.3 rebounds and dishing 3.3 assists.

In the title game, against Vanderbilt, Selden matched his career high with 25 points.

Selden shared MVP honors at the holiday showcase with his teammate, junior point guard Frank Mason III.

ISU’s Morris averaged 16 points, 7.7 assists and four rebounds on his way to earning Emerald Coast Classic Most Outstanding Player honors.
