Lawrence school board to review efficiency of maintenance response

The Lawrence school board Monday will review a report detailing how efficiently the district responds to maintenance concerns at its facilities.

The report will be presented at the school board meeting Monday evening. The report includes areas that need improvement and the divisions that are operating well. The data has been compiled by a software management system and will focus on facility usage, building and grounds maintenance and the process of submitting work requests.

Tony Barron, director of facilities and operations for the school district, will present the efficiency report to the school board.

In 2008, the facility usage management software was purchased to improve the scheduling of facility spaces. The Facilities and Operations Department also purchased software to streamline the process of scheduling maintenance, tracking inventory usage, responding to critical system alarms and planning future maintenance expenses.

As part of the consent agenda, the school board also will vote whether to approve amendments to the construction contracts for Lawrence High School, and Kennedy, Schwegler and Deerfield elementary schools.

The school board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the district offices, 110 McDonald Drive.
