High wind warning in effect for Douglas County until 6 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a high wind warning for Douglas County until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Gusts of 40 to 55 miles per hour will be likely through sunset, according to the weather service. Tree damage and downed power lines may result from the winds. The weather service also cautions motorists to drive with caution, especially in high profile vehicles.

The warning is in addition to a wind advisory, which will be in effect until midnight.
