Two more Jayhawks earn NCAA berths

? Two more Kansas University track-and-field athletes earned berths to the NCAA Championships with their performances at the West Preliminary on Friday.

KU seniors Michael Stigler (400-meter hurdles) and Colleen O’Brien (high jump) punched their NCAA tickets, and junior Daina Levy — who already had qualified for the NCAAs in the hammer throw — made it in the discus, too.

Stigler crossed in 48.64 seconds, giving him the three fastest times in the collegiate ranks this year.

O’Brien placed fifth in the high jump at 1.82 meters (5 feet, 11 1/2 inches).

Levy placed 12th in the discus at 53.73 meters (176-3).

KU has seven athletes headed to the NCAAs in eight events, with 11 more opportunities today, the third and final day of the West Preliminary.
