Patti LuPone replaces ‘I Love Lucy’ on Lied Center schedule

A performance by Tony-winning actress Patti LuPone will replace “I Love Lucy Live on Stage” on the Lied Center’s 2015-16 season schedule, it was announced Tuesday.

Patti LuPone will perform Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Lied Center.

The “I Love Lucy” performance was originally scheduled for Jan. 19, but that tour was canceled, according to a Lied Center press release. Taking its place on a different date will be LuPone’s concert “Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda … played that part,” and LuPone will perform songs from musicals including “Hair,” “West Side Story,” “Evita” and “Gypsy.” The LuPone concert will be 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26.

Ticket packages went on sale to the public Monday, and tickets have been on sale to Friends of the Lied and KU students since May 15. The Lied Center says that ticket holders will be contacted via mail or email, and that tickets for “I Love Lucy” will be honored the night of LuPone’s performance. Refunds will also be available at the Lied Center ticket office.

Single tickets for 2015-16 season performances will go on sale to the public June 1 at a kickoff party from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the Lied Center lobby, 1600 Stewart Drive. There will be giveaways, food and drawings, and the Lawrence Humane Society will be bringing some furry friends.
