Overland Park ? Lawrence High’s girls track and field team tied Olathe Northwest for first place in a 31-team field at the Shawnee Mission North Relays Friday with 55 points.

Rebecca and Matia Finley went one-two in the girls discus, and the 4×400 relay team of Leah Gabler, Marissa Pope, Kyleigh Severa and Jensen Edwards took first place as well.

The Lawrence High boys placed sixth overall with 33 points, and were led by a first-place finish from JD Woods in the 100 meters.

Free State’s girls squad racked up 44 points to crack the top five, placing fifth overall. The Firebirds had a trio of second-place finishers in Gabbi Dabney (100 hurdles), Kiara Clark (300 hurdles) and Callie Hicks (pole vault).

Tye Carter won the javelin and Avin Lane was the runner-up in the 100, as the FSHS boys finished 17th overall.
