Vintage baseball: The Second Memorial Travis Sanders Vintage Baseball Game will be 2-4 p.m., April 25 at the Broken Arrow baseball field. Featuring the Emporia Vintage baseball team vs. the Sluggers for Sanders, it’s a fundraiser for an educational fund for Sanders’ nephews Houstyn and Myric Carnagie.

Vaulter fundraiser: Jordan Scott, a former Kansas University pole vaulter now training in Lawrence, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance his quest to compete in the 2016 Olympics. 5K and 2K Fitness Walks: A non-competitive fitness walk will be held on March 28, weather permitting. No times will be kept, and there is no registration fee; however, participants are encouraged to bring a can of food, which will be donated to the Trinity Interfaith Food Pantry. Participants should meet in the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, located at 13th and New Hampshire, at 9:30 a.m. to fill out an entry form and sign a waiver. Volleyball tournament: A volleyball tournament will be held April 25 for Jamie Giersch, diagnosed with spindel cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Pitch, Hit & Run: The Lawrence Pitch, Hit & Run will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth at noon April 4 at Holcom Blue. Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2015 MLB All-Star game. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition.
