Kansas University softball plans to retire former KU standout Jill Larson-Bradney’s jersey on Saturday, before the Jayhawks’ game against Texas at Arrocha Ballpark.

Larson-Bradney’s No. 22 jersey is the third KU softball jersey to be retired after Camille Spitaleri and Sheila Connolly’s jerseys were retired on April 22, 2006.

A third baseman and pitcher for the Jayhawks from 1978-81, Larson-Bradney was the first softball All-American in school history after being named to the AIAW First Team in 1981. She was a three-time Big Eight Championship All-Tournament Team selection and helped lead the Jayhawks to the 1979 Big Eight Championship and a runner-up finish in 1981.

KU will play Texas at 5 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
