LHS baseball falls to Rogers

? Lawrence High’s baseball team held Rogers (Arkansas) to just four hits on Saturday afternoon, but the Lions couldn’t produce much offense of their own in a 3-0 loss at Rogers High.

LHS (0-2) had three strong innings on the mound from Nick Haynes and Nolan Prochaska, but none of its six hits resulted with a run across home plate. Ivan Hollins had two hits and Michael Sinks added a double.

“It’s a great barometer, a good way to test the kids,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said of the Lions’ Arkansas trip. “Rogers was state runner-up in the biggest class in Arkansas, and we played toe-to-toe with them. I feel pleased with the trip. Some kids earned some spots, and there are still some spots to be had.”

The Lions will face Topeka Seaman in their home opener at 6 p.m. Friday.
