KU men’s golf wins in Desert

? All six Kansas University men’s golfers placed in the top 20 — paced by runner-up Brock Drogosch — and KU won the Desert Shootout on Saturday at Palm Valley Golf Club.

Drogosch shot a 10-under 206 to tie for second, and the Jayhawks easily won the team title with 829 strokes. Iowa State was second at 837, and Wichita State was third at 838.

“We played solid all three days,” Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said. “We stumbled a little bit today, but the guys were in control the whole way. I think they grew up today on the golf course. We shot 9-under today, and no one shot over par today from our team.”

KU’s other golfers: Connor Peck, ninth, 208; Jacques Wilson, tied for 13th, 210; and Chase Hanna, Ben Welle and Daniel Hudson, tied for 18th, 211.

Kansas will compete April 6-7 at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship in West Point, Mississippi.
