Feds charge two Lawrence residents with illegal meth activity

Two Lawrence residents have been charged with illegal methamphetamine activity, federal authorities said Friday.

Petsamai Phommaseng, 34, is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a methamphetamine user and two counts of possession of a firearm to further drug trafficking, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office.

Susan Khampannha is charged with illegally allowing a residence to be used for distributing methamphetamine, the release said. The residence is in the 2500 block of Ousdahl Road in Lawrence.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred in 2014 and 2015 in Lawrence.

Penalties they face include:

• A maximum of 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000 for unlawful possession of a firearm by a meth user.

• Not less than five years in prison and a fine up to $250,000 for unlawful possession of a firearm to further drug trafficking.

• A maximum of 20 years and a fine up to $250,000 for maintaining a residence to further drug trafficking.
