Duplex fire in northwest Lawrence

Lawrence firefighters quickly brought a duplex fire under control in the 3900 block of Overland Circle this morning.

Shortly after 2 a.m., a neighbor called 911 to report hearing an alarm sounding and smoke visible from a neighbor’s duplex at 3902 Overland Circle.

Lawrence police were first to arrive and reported visible flames from the rear of the structure.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 10 minutes.

One resident informed firefighters that her cat is somewhere inside the duplex.

Medics are assessing one woman at the scene. Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

Fire investigators are at the scene working to determine how the fire started.
