Send in your health questions for City Commission candidate forum

Is Lawrence healthy? What concerns do you have about the public health of your community?

Candidates for City Commission will be attending a public forum about health in Lawrence on March 30, and we want to know what Lawrence voters think about health initiatives.

All the candidates running for commission in the April 7 election have agreed to attend the forum, which is sponsored by the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, LiveWell Lawrence and the Lawrence Journal-World’s WellCommons.

This is your chance to address public health issues that are part of the Health Department’s Community Health Plan. The plan focuses on five priorities:

  • Access to healthy food
  • Access to health services
  • Mental Health
  • Physical Activity
  • Poverty and lack of jobs

Voters have a chance to voice their opinions and offer questions so panelists can bring them to the candidates and give voters a clear picture of candidates’ plans for health policy and initiatives in the community. Send your questions to mtevis@ljworld.com or tweet them to @WellCommons. Send questions by mail to WellCommons Candidate Forum, 645 New Hampshire St., Lawrence, 66044.
