One of five defendants in Lawrence home invasion pleads guilty

Driskell Alan Johnson, a defendant accused with four men in a home invasion in Lawrence in November, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of aggravated robbery.

The attack occurred Nov. 8 at an apartment in the 900 block of Arkansas Street.

Johnson, 20, who had originally been charged with four counts of aggravated robbery, faces 55 months to 240 months in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 28.

The names of the other four defendants are Zachary John Pence, Gabriel Alexander Patterson, Cody Scott Kukuk and Yusef Muhammad Kindell.

According to Douglas County District Court records and testimony, Johnson and the four men entered the apartment armed with handguns and beat up the residents. They stole cash, marijuana, two cellphones and an Xbox 360.

Pence, 21, testified against his codefendants in December in a preliminary hearing as part of a plea deal to lessen his charges from burglary and four counts of aggravated robbery to just two charges of robbery. His next hearing is scheduled for May 22.
