Douglas County issues burn ban

Douglas County has issued a burn ban effective immediately through Wednesday.

Jim Flory, chairman of the Douglas County Commission, authorized the ban at the recommendation of township fire chiefs, according to a press release. Dry conditions have increased the fire danger and created multiple fire calls Monday.

Careless use and disposal of smoking materials, including things like cigarettes, are prohibited, along with building or maintaining any open fire, except in permanent stoves, fireplaces or grills in developed recreational or residential home sites. Burning of all fields, wild lands, trash or debris is also prohibited.
