Notebook: Brannen Greene’s 3-point slump continues

Kansas City, Mo. ? Kansas University sophomore Brannen Greene is 0-for-14 from three over four games, following an 0-for-3 showing in the Jayhawks’ 64-59 Big 12 Tournament victory over TCU Thursday.

“Once one goes in, I feel it’ll turn around. I’ve got to make one first,” Greene said after another fruitless outing.

“They (coaches) made a tape for me and Wayne (Selden, Jr., 0-1 vs. TCU) this past week. I was looking at my shot from how I’m missing and when I was making them. I don’t feel my body is moving the same into the shot. Other than that, I’m shooting well in practice. It just hasn’t fallen in the game. I don’t feel as fluid. I know how my shot feels. I don’t feel my legs are getting into it. No excuses. I’ve got to make shots. It’ll turn around.”

KU as a team went 0-for-8 from three. KU has not made a three in two of the past three games. It’s the first time that has happened since the record began being tracked in 1988-89 season.

Baylor next: KU on Friday will meet Baylor, a squad it has defeated twice this season.

KU won, 56-55, in Waco, and 74-64, in Allen.

“Baylor’s zone has given us problems in the past. We’ll be ready for it,” KU freshman Kelly Oubre Jr. said after scoring 25 points vs. TCU. “They have a great team. We have a tough task ahead of us.”

Noted Selden: “They are long on the wings. They play that zone really well. They’ve got a beast inside on the glass (Rico Gathers). We know what we have to do.”

Said KU coach Bill Self: “Scott (Drew, coach) has done a really good job. He has them playing hard. They have nice pieces. We’ll have to play unbelievably better, have a total adjustment from an energy standpoint and look like a different ball club.”

Happy 350th: Self on Thursday won his 350th game as KU coach. He’s fastest to 350 in KU history. Roy Williams reached 350 in 430 games; Self in 426.
