Friends of the Kaw to host Kaw River cleanup

Friends of the Kaw is sponsoring a Kaw River cleanup on Saturday, the organization said in a release.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., volunteers can gather along the river to help dig tires and debris from the banks and clear the area, the release said. Because of the materials found in the river the cleanup is not recommended for children under 12.

Those interested in participating can find the group by heading east on 11th Street until the road jogs left and becomes 1550 Road, continue east for about a mile and keep an eye out for signs on the north side of the road, the release said. Volunteers should wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, sturdy shoes and bring work gloves and a shovel.
