Osawatomie upends Kaws, 60-53

? Baldwin’s boys basketball team jumped out to a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and had the game in hand through three quarters but the Bulldogs were outscored 18-8 and fell to Osawatomie 60-53 in a Class 4A semifinal game.

Christian Gaylord and Austin Ward paced Baldwin with 15 points each, while Jackson Barth chipped in 13. Ward and Barth each hit three 3-pointers.

Sheldon Booe led all scorers with 25 points for Osawatomie (13-8). The Bulldogs end their season with a 3-18 record.

The Trojans advance to Saturday’s championship game against Kansas City Bishop Ward.

Bishop Ward 55, Perry-Lecompton 49

Perry — Down 30-16 at halftime, the Perry-Lecompton boys staged a spirited second-half rally but couldn’t make up the deficit, losing to Bishop Ward 55-49 in a sub-state semifinal.

Seth Surface poured in 25 points for the Kaws, while Jacob Morgison added 10. Bishop Ward’s Anthony Cerda led all scorers with 28 points.

The Kaws end their season with a 7-14 record. Ward (6-15), moves on to the championship game.
