Rock Chalk Revue annual fundraiser set for Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Kansas University’s student-run annual fundraising event, “Rock Chalk Revue,” returns to the Lied Center this week with shows at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Rock Chalk Revue is a program consisting of five pairings of sororities and fraternities that each produce a 25-minute original musical. The theme of this year’s program is “The Best Is Yet to Come.”

Nikki Koppers, a Rock Chalk Revue coordinator and KU senior, said this year’s musicals are “distinct and very different,” with plots set in Wild West Lawrence, the KU campus and Mrs. Fields Cookies.

“They are all clever and fun, relating back to KU,” Koppers said.

Over the past 40 years, Rock Chalk Revue has raised $1 million for the United Way. Last year, the event raised more than $50,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Dreammaker Scholarship fund, Koppers said. This year, Koppers said the groups hope to match that amount again.

Tickets are available online at lied.ku.edu. Shows on Thursday and Friday cost $20, and Saturday’s show is $25. All proceeds are donated to charity.
