25 years ago: Mobile home park switches decision on fast-food deliveries

From the Lawrence Daily Journal-World for July 20, 1990:

  • The owner of a Lawrence mobile home park this week rescinded a ban on park residents receiving pizza deliveries. Thomas J. Horner Jr., whose company owned Brookwood Mobile Home Community, 1908 E. 19th, lifted the order that had barred residence from receiving home deliveries from fast-food services. The order, which had threatened residents with lease termination, had been issued at the beginning of the month by Wayne Lacy, Brookwood’s resident manager. “For the record, our official position is that we certainly want our residents to have the benefit of all available community services including the convenience of fast-food delivery service,” Horner wrote in a letter to residents. Lacy said he had instituted the ban because of complaints from residents about pizza delivery drivers speeding through the park and causing safety problems.
  • Movies playing in Lawrence theaters this week included “Longtime Companion,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Jetsons,” “Days of Thunder,” “Ford Fairlane,” “Gremlins,” “Total Recall,” “Ghost Dad,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Cadillac Man,” “Ghost,” “Die Hard 2,” “Another 48 Hours,” “Dick Tracy,” “Robocop 2,” and “Arachnophobia.”
