The Econo Lodge at 2525 W. Sixth St. was evacuated late Thursday after flames were seen coming from a portion of the hotel’s roof.

About 10:30 p.m., Lawrence firefighters responded to the hotel to find smoke and flames at the roofline, according to Douglas County dispatch.

Firefighters extinguished smoldering in the attic above a room on the west wing of the hotel’s second floor.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters released the scene about 12:45 a.m.
