Woman injured in ATV rollover in fair condition

A woman critically injured in an all-terrain vehicle rollover accident near Overbrook early Saturday morning is in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Jessica Williams, 29, who was riding on the back of the ATV, was thrown from the vehicle after it rolled over, said Capt. Wes Houk of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Williams was taken via air ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. As of 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Williams remained in the hospital in fair condition, said Chris Hamele, OPRMC spokesperson.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the accident, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. when the ATV was making a U-turn in the gravel intersection of East 200 Road and North 850 Road, Houk said. The driver of the ATV, Aaron McIntire, 24, was not injured in the accident, and no other vehicles were involved.

This is the third serious accident involving a utility or all-terrain vehicle on county roads this year. The other two incidents, which occurred in January and April, resulted in two fatalities.
