Aquahawks openings: The Aquahawks are always accepting new members. The Aquahawks are a year-round USA Swimming-sponsored competitive swim team. The Aquahawks offer a swim lesson program and competitive swim team for all ages. The Aquahawks are coached by professional coaches with weekly practices geared toward a variety of skill levels. Called To Greatness Basketball Camps: The Lawrence Called to Greatness boys camp is July 7-8 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The camp will be at Lawrence Sports Pavilion (Rock Chalk Park) and is open to second-12th graders entering the fall. Chalmers golf: The seventh-annual Mario V. Chalmers Foundation Golf Tournament and VIP Mixer will be July 27 at Alvamar. The yearly tournament is hosted by former Kansas University/current Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Lawrence’s new Teen Center. Bike ride: The Lawrence’s Bike Club’s Summer Fun Beginners Bike Ride will be every Monday through Aug. 31. Ride begins at 6:30 p.m. at Cycle Works, 2121 Kasold Dr. Approximately 10 mph for 10 miles mostly on Lawrence Bike Path. Tech tips first Monday of each month. Helmet required, water bottle recommended.

Brandon Schneider Golf: The inaugural Brandon Schneider Golf Tournament will tee off on Aug. 22 at Alvamar Golf and Country Club. Registration is open for singles, pairs and foursomes. Cost is $100 per person, which includes green fees, cart, range balls, dinner and a goodie bag. All proceeds from the tournament support Kansas women’s basketball and the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Breast Center. Golf begins at 1 p.m., with a shotgun start of the four-person scramble. Dinner will follow at 6 p.m., and includes live and silent auctions. Throughout the day, participants will get a chance to meet the 2015-16 Kansas women’s basketball team and staff, who will be on the course cheering and visiting with the teams. Phenix looking: The Lawrence Phenix Folks 12UB team is looking to add to its roster for the fall season. Our team is part of the Lawrence Phenix Organization that has been in operation for 30-plus years offering an opportunity for girls to play competitive fastpitch softball. Our first year team is looking for 4-5 players with 2004 birthdays — specifically, one established pitcher and players ready to play 12B. Eagle Bend ace: Ron Poindexter recorded a hole-in-one on Eagle Bend’s No. 17 hole. He used a 9-iron for the ace, which was witnessed by Steve Menke, Scott Mitchell and Wayne Postoak.

Grant hole-in-one: Steve Grant used a 7-iron to record a hole-in-one on the 110-yard No. 3 hole at Eagle Bend. Roger Dreiling witnessed the shot.
