KU music festival concludes with free Lied Center concert

The Kansas University School of Music will conclude its Prairie Winds and inaugural Sunflower Strings festival with a free concert Sunday at the Lied Center.

The festival, which includes the 12th annual Prairie Winds Festival, begins Friday at KU’s Murphy Hall. Outstanding high school wind, percussion and string musicians will come from across Kansas and the country to attend.

During the three-day festival, students participate in master classes, clinics, chamber ensembles and performances in select wind ensembles with KU School of Music faculty musicians.

The young musicians will conclude the weekend with a performance 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lied Center. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 864-3436 or visit www.music.ku.edu.
