Just Food, the food bank of Douglas County, is partnering with Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart locations in Lawrence this weekend to combat hunger in the community.

The food drive, Sack Hunger, will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Just Food said in a release. Food bank employees will be stationed at Hy-Vee and Wal-Mart stores, handing out sacks to encourage customers to donate to the less fortunate.

Sack Hunger is intentionally held the day before Super Bowl Sunday, the release said. The drive’s hope is to encourage shoppers buying food for Super Bowl parties to donate to hungry families in Douglas County.
