Topeka ? Free State and Lawrence High’s boys swim teams both earned top-five finishes Tuesday at the Topeka Capitol Federal Natatorium.

The Firebirds placed third overall with 398 points, while the Lions took fifth out of 14 teams with 166.5.

Jordan Portela and Josh Terrell each won events for the Firebirds as they respectively picked up victories in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke.

LHS received a standout performance from Izaiah Bowie, who was the runner-up in the 1-meter diving with 252.05 points.

Blue Valley North won the meet with 552 points, edging Shawnee Mission East by 19 points.
