Lawrence man robbed by knife-wielding woman he contacted online, police say

Police arrested an 18-year-old Overland Park woman on suspicion of aggravated robbery of a Lawrence man Sunday afternoon.

Stephanie Alessandra Freeman was arrested after allegedly displaying a folding knife and robbing the man of an undisclosed amount of cash, Lawrence police Sgt. Craig Shanks said. The incident occurred when Freeman and the man were speaking in his vehicle about 5:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of W 22nd Street, Shanks said.

Freeman was arrested within 15 minutes of the incident and the knife and the cash were recovered, Shanks said. The man reported that he had communicated with Freeman over the internet previous to the incident, Shanks said.
