Man arrested in connection with Oread neighborhood burglaries

Police arrested a 26-year-old Lawrence man around 2 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of burglarizing at least two homes in the Oread neighborhood Dec. 25, Sgt. Myrone Grady said.

Michael Tyrone Hill was found in possession of property reported stolen and is a suspect in a string of 10 residential burglaries in the Oread neighborhood that began in mid-December, Grady said.

Police suspect more burglaries will be reported once Kansas University students return from winter break, Grady said.

Hill is in the Douglas County Jail with no bond on suspicion of aggravated burglary, burglary of a dwelling, theft of property, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anyone coming back from holidays who has been burglarized should contact the Lawrence Police Department at 830-7400.
